At Arthurs Pass national park we struggled up to our knees in snow during the Avalanche Peak half day trek. The pass led us to the west coast and the stunning coastline up to the pancake rocks at Punakaiki. Then we abandoned the van and took to the 55k path of the stunning Abel Tasman trek which took us three and a half days to complete.
